Back towards Leeds

The workshop ended around 16:30. I had some time to walk around and took a stroll from the City across London Bridge, then further towards Tower Bridge, along the river Thames. Very nice sunshine first, but then darker clouds covered the sky. On Tower Bridge I turned around and walked back to London Bridge station.

Wanted to have some dinner at a very nice pub, but it was very full, no space to sit, and long wait at the bar. So I had my dinner at St. Pankras Station (the pub in Kings Cross is closed now, there is a major construction going on at that station.

The Wifi now in the train back to Leeds appears to have some problems, the throughput is quite slow. I will arrive in Leeds shortly before 23:00.

ISMAR: Posters (2nd Photosynth)

With the pictures I took today, I now created a quite elaborate photosynth: with 97 photos and a synth quality of 100% (no picture was left out) this is the best synth that I have made so far. Each poster can be viewed in its full resolution as a separate picture.

ISMAR: posters

Here is a Microsoft Photosynth of the ISMAR poster room. A more detailed synth is in preparation, this one here is just the "first try".

My first "PhotoSynth"

I just learned that Microsoft has now released their impressive Photosynth tool, which can link pictures automatically into some sort of panoramic view, without any user interaction.

So I quickly used pictures from my visit at Nicosia in March to create such a synth. You can hover with the mouse over the picture and click around, to zoom in or out:

I will search among my other pictures for suitable scenarios, and in the future I will specifically take pictures of interesting objects, so as to create these synths.
